Cole-isms...

This boy....

There are just not words that can describe this boys personality. It's large. Within 5 seconds, he can experiance the highest of the highs in emotions and the lowest of the lows. He tries to talk himself out of any consequence or thing that he might disagree with. He comes up with the most absurd things. Here are his latest little quirks.

The other day I was driving in the car and he asked if he could unbuckle. I told him no and he complained that his weenie was itching him because I wasn't obeying him.

He asked if he could have candy one day and I said no and he said, "But mom, candy is so healthy for me". When I disagreed with him and he furrowed his eyebrows and said, "Um, I think that's none of your business". I say this to them frequently if they are correcting one another and I guess it stuck with him :o)

He's convinced that he is a real bear because we've always called him "coley bear". For Lilahs birthday, he kept telling her that he was going to be a "friendly bear" for her party. We arrived at the park yesterday and he ran up to a group of kids and said, "Hi! This is my brudder Fin. I'm Cole Henry. I"m a bear, I'm a scary bear, but really I'm a friendly bear so it's all ok, right?". Then he just kind of strutted around shrugging his shoulders like he was celebrity....On the playground. I would kill for his confidence sometimes.

Fin was sick recently and we had to take him to the doctor. When he nurse called his name, Cole ran up to her and said, "My brudder Fin is very very sick. He has a fever". Then he looked at the ground mournfully like Fin was already deceased or something. Meanwhile Fin's right behind him looking fine, just there b/c of his allergies.

Cole has the sweetest heart and that whole day that Fin was sick, Cole kept saying, "Fin do you feel ok?" and when Fin would say that he did, Cole would say, "Oh good, i'm glad you're ok".

His latest quirks are he HAS to sleep on this giant stuffed dog pillow that Grandma made for BOTH the boys. He throws the biggest fit if it's Fin's turn to sleep with it. We hear him in there at least an hour past when they've been put down and he's still negotiating with Fin, saying, "Fin, If you will be my friend, then give me the doggy pillow". 9 times out of 10, in the morning, Cole is then sleeping on the doggy pillow and Fin says he gave it to him just to make him go to sleep. The boy will be a lawyer, of that I am sure.

Cole is a born cuddler and wherever I am sitting on the couch, he is always sitting pressed him next to my side. Sometimes, just to mess with him, while we are watching a show, I will get up and quietly move to the chair just to see if he notices and within 30 seconds, without taking his eyes off the screen, he will get up and come right next to me. I seriously soak up those times.

Last night, pat and I were having some extra cuddle time with Cole after we sent the others to bed. Pat wrapped Coley up in his favorite blank blank and said, "Tell me Cole, what is Coley about? Who is Cole?". Cole got very serious and pressed his nose to Pat's and whispered, "Cooooole Heeeeenry". We died laughing.

May his always have his humor and love for life. May he always feel his emotions this strongly. And may I always have the ability to keep a straight face during some of our conversations. Or die trying.

Lilah Jane's One

What a joyful day it was. Lilah, You are such a sunshiney little love in our family.
You ADORE your daddy and crawl into whatever room he is in which makes him then immediately drop what he's doing and scoop you up. Most mornings I put you on his chest when you wake up and you snuggle in and snooze while he scratches your back and sings "Moon Moon Moon" to you. My heart literally feels like it's exploding then.
You are starting to take teetery steps everywhere, making you the earliest walker in our family by starting a week before your first birthday. Everytime you stand up, Cole screams in pure delight, "MOM, LILAH'S STANDING!!". I'm telling you, you've done it about a hundred times now and it still hasn't gotten old to him.
You still love nursing above all else and I don't take for granted our sweet nursing relationship at all. It is the best way I can love you, but holding you that close to me and feeding you. I love those quiet pauses in our day where we escape from the crazy boys and noises and I rock you while you nurse. We also still nap in my bed together everyday which I treasure. I know you're awake when you start kicking your little feet and then I pop my head up where you can see me and you break out in the biggest grin ever.
For your birthday, we just showered you with love from the second you got up. There were no big gifts, in fact your favorite present was a hairbrush from your daddy which we call your "pretty pretty" and you love to just run it over your head. I still die that we have your girly touches in our family. I'm pretty sure your brothers didn't even know the word "hairbrush" until you came along.
We started out with you opening your presents which you had a lot of help with :o) Your brothers were thrilled to pieces that it was your birthday and they gave you kisses the whole day because they were so excited.

Fin picked out that big purple ball as his gift to you.

Of course we continued our tradition of doughnuts for your birthday. You loved your pink sprinkle one.

Your favorite thing in the world is a little song called "Choo choo soul" which comes on the Disney Channel. Whenever you hear it start to play, you crawl crazy fast to the tv and park yourself on the floor like this and bob up and down to the music. We all think it's hilarious.

That night we walked in the sunshine to eat subs for dinner.

Saturday was party day with the Keegan family coming over. Even with it just being a family party, it was quite the shindig. You LOVED having everyone around and showed off your walking skills. Your daddy is such a sucker for you, he insisted we get Gigi's cupcakes for the party. I, of course, did not object.

Cole also was a big fan of the cupcakes ;o)

Nanny got some sweet cuddles with Kate.

Of course, Uncle Will headed up the wrestling portion of the night.

This was you at the end of the day. Completely partied out and so very sleepy.

I put you in your coziest lamby pajamas, tucked you in close to me to nurse, and rocked you until you drifted off. And I thanked God so much for bringing you into our family. We needed you and have been blessed so much by your presence. You.are.loved. Never forget that.
