Boyisms

I'm sad I haven't done a post in a while of the funny things the boys say. I know those posts are no interest to anyone but me, but I want to capture some of what they say right now b/c seriously, they crack me up on a daily basis.
-One day we were at the museum looking at dinosaurs and Fin looked up at me and said," Mom, you know how I love you so much that my heart feels like it's going to explode? Well....that's how much I have to pee right now". Thanks Fin, appreciate the sentiment.
-I'm realizing the more Cole is talking that there are certain phrases I say to him a lot that I wasn't even aware of. Such as in the mornings, Pat will take Cole from his crib and put him in bed with me in my comatose state. Cole will immediately start softly patting me and say," Have good seepies?". Lol, I hadn't even realized I said that to him everytime he got up until he started saying it to me. Also, everytime I pick him up from the Y nursery after working out, he runs up to me and says, "Have a lot of fun?", which I always reply, "I did, did YOU have a lot of fun?". He literally then bellows, "BYE" to all of his teachers and runs for the door. Homeboy doesn't mess around.
-Fin and I were cuddling on the couch when he patted my face and said, "Mom you're as beautiful as a dolphin". Um, that is not a compliment. I thanked him and asked him what that meant. Fin vlooked at me like I was special needs and said, "Mom...It means you're face looks like a dolphin". Oh, ok, I feel much better now.
-The boys are both very into the baby lately, each in their own way. Fin swears he is a horrible baby namer because he thinks of names like, "Honky and Donky and....door". I assured him he is in fact a terrible baby namer and not to worry, he won't have any hand in naming this one. He calls himself, Cole and the new baby the "Three stooges" which I think is cute, and also makes me a little nervous for what's ahead.
Cole continues to call my stomach baby Will and when he was wrestling with Aunt Cait this week, he pulled up her shirt, pointed to her flat stomach and exclaimed, "A BABY!!". Cait is like a size negative zero so I had to smirk over that one.
- Cole's favorite expression is "Wait a minute!" or "What a second!" which sounds pretty darn cute in his little baby voice.
-Fin started Awanas last week and we've been working on his memory verse all this week. It's "God loved us and sent His son, (1 John 4:10)". He's got it down pat now so when I asked him to say his verse a few days ago he looked at me and said, "God loved us and sent His son (1 POPS 4:10)....Mom do you know why I said Pops?? It's because Pops' real name is John...hahaha". My little smart aleck better hope his Awanas teacher has a sense of humor.

One thing is abundantly clear to me...my children are TALKERS. Strangers even comment on how well they talk to which I usually wearily reply, "Yes, they are pretty good at it". Sometimes at the end of the day I feel like my ears are ringing from the constant flow of chatter. I love it but I also sometimes love bedtime too when they are safe in their bed/crib and I can walk out of their rooms and close the door...as they are still chattering away.

Odds and Ends

We had a great last week. The weather was so beautiful that we were at the park by 9am everyday. Also, Aunty Netty is in town from England which is such a treat for us so we've been getting in visits with her throughout the week as she's here. Cole calls hers "Aunty Nanny" which is pretty cute..

Every week I get to watch Fin and Cole grow as brothers and it is such a blessing to me. They play more, cuddle more, look for each other more when playing, and of course squabble a little more. Fights usually involve Cole taking a toy from Fin, Fin yelling to me, "Mooooooom, Cole took my Lego", Cole running out of Fin's room looking horribly angry and distressed, throwing himself on the couch, crying a few feeble fake cries and then popping up with a huge smile and saying, "Mama, all done cryin'!". He has got his act down and he is a pro :o)

With the weather being so nice, we've been playing outside after naps more with neighbor friends. Love this pic of the kids surrounding Zoey. Please note cowboy Fin.

Fin attempted to pull Zeke, Annie and Cole in the wagon and it was going well until his feet slipped out from under him. It cracked me up how he landed.

Thursday night we met some of my family for dinner at Tijuana Flats and then Aunt Sarah walked down with us to the Pet Store which the boys loooove. Anytime I go in there I have to instruct all parties, Pat included, that we are NOT leaving with a puppy. I need that like I need a hole in the head.
Cutest thing in the world was Sarah and Cole realized if they bobbed and danced that a little bird would copy them and do the same. I kid you not, Cole teared up at one point with wonderment. It was so funny.

I always love walking behind Pat and Cole holding hands. The height difference kills me.

Friday night, Pat and I built a fire on the deck. While we were chilling and waiting for some friends to come over, I went and got Fin out of his bed and told him to come see what we made. He was sooooo excited.

Fin, our resident talker, always asks us to "tell me a story of when you were little". Pat and I took turns telling  him stories while he just sat there like this, staring into the fire and processing. What's so funny is sometimes after we tell him our story, he will then tell us a story of when he was was a little boy and it will be the exact story that we just told him, only it happened to him :o) He's nothing if not original...

Hello Second Trimester

So long First Trimester. Don't let the door hit you in the...fanny.
While I'm very grateful for all the good growing the baby did in the first trimester, how much it developed, and how the Lord created my body to be able to nourish this little life...that terrible terrible sickness was Bad News Bears when I had two little boys that I wanted to be "normal" for. Cue my dad saying, "but you were never normal to begin with".
I'm now headed into the second trimester with much joy, gaining energy, and only a little nausea. Glory!
For my own record, I took a belly picture which I now love because as I was taking it, Cole walked in and said "Say Cheese!" right as I took it so we have that sweet moment of the two of us, cheesing out. Considering the amount of alone time I get, I'm pretty sure all my belly pics will include one or both of the boys. Possibly even with one or both of them climbing on my head.
Pregnancy Notes:
How far along: 13 weeks
Doctors Appt: Went well, heard the beautiful heartbeat at 177 bpm which according to the old wives tales means we're having a race horse :o)
Funny Note: My doctor sat me down and was concerned about my weight loss and asked me what I ate that day. Not being satisfied with what I told her, she asked what I had eaten the day before. As soon as I said the magic words, "Bojangles", she immediately exclaimed, "Ok I'm sure you're going to be fine. You'll catch it back up eventually". :o) It must also be noted that Pat started to tell her what he ate the day before for some reason, thinking it was what I ate. I had to inform him to stop stealing my spotlight :o)
Praises: My nausea is waning, I feel like my old self energy wise, and I no longer hate every smell. Poor Pat... for 3 months there I was bathing using the most generic odorless soap bc any smells drove me crazy. No perfumes, no lotions, nada. I basically smelled like air. Nothing sexier than a wife smelling like she doesn't exist.
Excitement for: Feeling this babe move. With both the boys I felt them around 14 weeks so hopefully soon! Also, we find out what we're having in a little less then 3 weeks.
Complaints: My only complaint is if Pat puts, "Bob" or "Frank" on the table one more time for baby names, we are going to have serious words. I'm sorry, am I birthing a 50 year old cowboy with dip in his mouth?

We are all so excited. Cole calls the baby, "Baby Will" and Fin gives my stomach "Pound" every morning with his little fist. I feel very joy filled with this life I have.

Lazy Sunday afternoon

The days of leisurely reading the Sunday paper are gone. Now its flinging flyers into the air, stomping on comics, and the newspaper somehow ends up in every room of the house.

Go Pack

Football Kickoff night.
Cookout with friends.
Papa's take out, Brownies, Christmas cookie icecream, juiceboxes.
Kiddie Pool, Four kids on a swing throwing each other and the cushions off.
Fin, Cole and I squeezing into a chair with the fan blowing on our faces.
Second generation of wolfpackers...

Finley the artist

Fin got some paints for his birthday and he was immediately inspired to become a face painter. Lucky me, I was chosen as his guinea pig. He suggested a simple snake on my cheek, I agreed, and the session began.

Things quickly got out of control. Earlobes were painted, mustaches were created, and Cole was bouncing on my lap insisting, "Color?? Color??".
Ladies and Gentleman, I give you the final product...

I see a future in this.
