Timeless

Today I took the kids to the park and greenway in the neighborhood that Pat grew up in- Annie Jones Park. We just had the best morning. We went into it with zero expectations, knowing that we may only be there for 15 minutes bc it might be blazing hot. It was actually surprisingly cool and we played on the little park before we went trekking through the woods in search of rocks and creeks.

I used to love walking this greenway with Pat while we were dating and he would point out spots where he would ride his bike in the dark or the bridge where he would hide warm beer under while he was a teenager. The boys were in heaven throwing rocks in the creek and searching for bugs.

Lilah was very offended I wouldn't let her climb off the bridge into the creek to join her brothers. I'm mean like that.

So she settled for pushing her stroller a good half mile down the path.

Fin is a little scared of balancing so I told him if he put his hands up, he would be able to balance better :)

Cole always show his muscles when you tell him he's big.

Pushing your own stroller is hard work.

Being in the woods with my kids just feeds my soul. There is something about getting so much enjoyment over something so simple.

What's wrong with this picture?

He's such a help to me while I make the bed...

Pat had one job: get Lilah dressed in her suit. Results: suit backwards with straps mixed up.

Lilah got kicked out of their fort after about 2 seconds and yanking down sheets at a frantic rate.

She's an imp but man is she cute.

The Worst bug I've ever seen...

Poor Coley is just coming out of the worst virus I've ever seen. He threw up for 5 days straight until we finally had to take him into the ER for IV fluids. It was absolutely heartbreaking. He completely stopped talking at all except for "yes" or "no" answers. He would just lie wherever you put him and just sleep or stare at the wall, even being too listless to watch TV. When Cole is too sick to watch Mickey Mouse, we go into full panic mode.

Day and Night he would throw up until he was so incredibly week and keeping no fluids down. Everyday we kept thinking he would wake up and start to perk up but he just kept getting weaker and weaker.

I was actually SO relieved when I finally took him into the ER. He was a trooper and started perking up as soon as the IV started pumping Zofran and fluids into him. My friend Natalie was a godsend and came to keep me company at the hospital and brought me dinner since Pat was home with the other kids. SJ visited as well and it made the time pass really quickly. When we got home, Cole immediately conked out in our bed and later that night when I went to move him and I picked him up, he was drenched in sweat. It was such a shocking feeling for me to feel moisture on him and I was immediately so relieved.

He's gotten his energy back now and we are in Project "Fatten Coley Up" mode. As many calories as we can cram into him in a day, we are. It should be a fun icecream filled summer for him :o)

Summer So Far

Summer so far has been pretty fantastic. We are living outdoors, opting for sandwiches at the pool over cooked dinners at home, struggling to keep up with damp towels and swim trunks, spraying each other with hoses (except death to anyone who sprays Ms. Sassypants), and crashing hard at night with chlorine in our hair and sun-kissed skin.

Fin discovered he was spiderman which always foreshadows a nice ER trip in our future. You heard it here first...

We do Y and pool most mornings and come home just in time to crash hard for naps.

Coley clearly is a big fan of summer park trips...

We celebrated Sarah becoming teacher of the Year at Kanki.

Fin discovered he is the butterfly whisperer. He loved to walk around our house with a smirk on his face and you would look at him wondering what he was up to until you noticed he had little butterflies just hanging off of him like it was no biggie.

Lilah perfected the art of posing for the camera...

As well as the sassy hip pop pose.

And also has been taking her baby dolls for a ride in her shopping cart at least 4 times a day. Sometimes she gets sick of them though and chucks them onto the sidewalk mid-ride. She's such a good mama.

Summer buzz cuts are mandatory every few weeks...

Sometimes we push the limits on naptime a little bit and this happens...

And also this...

When we are not at home, we are usually at the pool. Lilah finally is allowing herself to be IN the pool instead of running on the sidelines.

And we celebrated this little cutie turning 1...

But somebody might have been confused about whose party it actually was.
