Kaylan's wedding

One of Pat's best friends from highschool, Kaylan, got married recently and we were honored to be ather beautiful wedding. Pat has such a soft spot for her, her sister Kiera and her family and while I didn't meet them until we started dating, they truly are some of the sweetest and most genuine people we know. Kiera and Kaylan are very intentional in staying in touch and asking about the boys and we were so blessed to be able to witness the love between Kaylan and Scott.
The wedding was at Duke Chapel and the reception was at the Cotton Room which was such a GORGEOUS place.

While the whole wedding was so beautiful, I was so struck by two things.  1) How totally and genuinely smitten Kaylan and Scott were with each other. You could just tell they are best friends. And it's so neat to see a couple start out in their marriage and you just want to say to them that Sooo many people say how hard this is, and it can be work sometimes, but O my goodness, it gets better every year. You are only starting on discovering the best and that is such a sweet thing.

2) I have never seen a family like Kaylans, where there were dads, moms, stepmoms, stepdads all blended together all rejoicing over this couple, together. I kept tearing up throughout the night (stupid hormones) just seeing her dad and stepdad walk her down the aisle and seeing all of her blended family dancing and taking pictures together on the dance floor. You could just tell how geniune they all were and that it wasn't a front. It was such a sweet and rare thing to see. What a blessing their kids will have to have so many people to love them.

It was pretty nice too to have a night out with the hubs before he left for a business trip the next day.

Aaaaand that the night ended with amazing wedding cake. Can never go wrong there.

Beautiful night where we came away wishing WE could go on a honeymoon again. Let's be honest, you need one way more when you're getting up at 6am every morning with kids ;o)
